By the way, in the picture, I'm the one on the right, in case you were wondering.
I started this blog because I wanted to share my love of books and movies, as well as keep me writing. I could have just as easily started a political blog (I love politics!), but my love of reading far outweighs my love of political debate. I chose the name Reading, Writing, and Anything but Arithmetic because obviously I like reading and writing, and hate math. But I chose the phrase "Anything But" because I knew this blog was going to expand to include more than just reading and writing. And it has. There's lots of movie and TV reviews, some personal stuff, a few challenges, and a couple miscellaneous entries that don't really fall into a category.
Please, PLEASE, do not ask me to name one favorite author, movie, TV show, or band. I love so many that I've never been able to pick a favorite without second-guessing it constantly. I suppose if I absolutely had to pick a favorite book, I would pick The Lord of the Rings. If I were stuck on a deserted island, this is the book I would want with me. But that doesn't mean Tolkien is my most favorite author. He's definitely in the top five, but I don't think I could say he was my all-time favorite. If I were allowed to pick five favorites for author, movie, TV shows, and band, I could answer that without any delay.
